Angles have been used subtly but effectively to add interest and maximise the potential of several rooms in the new Hacienda display home by Affordable Living Homes at Wellard.
Walls in the main suite, entry and key living areas have been set at slight angles, creating extra floor space where it is needed most and providing a point of difference in the layout.
Above the central kitchen, a dropped bulkhead has an asymmetrical edge, following the line of an island bench to separate the cooking area from the dining area and family room.
Affordable Living Homes Sales and marketing manager Larry Scamaton said the Hacienda could be built with a boundary wall to fit on a 13.8m lot yet was big enough to accommodate the changing needs of a range of buyers.
From the street, the Hacienda has a funky, highly contemporary look incorporating paneled sections of Scyon Matrix cladding in a feature wall that juts above the eave and roof line. Light and dark grey rendered walls, a grey garage door and a white Colorbond roof reinforce the cool styling, and a marbled column supports a central boxed portico at the entry.
Mr Scamaton said the home’s innovative front elevation showed the Affordable Living Homes design team were willing to create homes quite different to those by other builders.
“One of the things we have always tried to do is really break the mould when it comes to our home designs,” Mr Scamaton said.
“Our sister companies are Seacrest and Broadway Homes and we have always been more of a boutique-style builder than the sort of builder that tends to produce traditional home designs.
“We spend a great deal of time on the elevations and on the other individual elements of our homes for the first-homebuyer.”
Front doors open to a separate entry, which is set on a slight angle and has an optional raised and recessed ceiling. On the right, the theatre room is sunken two courses for the display and brightened by three small windows in the side wall.
On the left, a door opens to the main suite where comfort and a degree of luxury are provided in the spacious sleeping area with parents’ retreat, full-width robe with three mirrored doors and open ensuite. White shutters are fitted in an opening above the rectangular bath, the four-door vanity has a postformed top, the shower stall has angled walls and the toilet is separate.
At the back of the entry, the open-plan casual living zone makes an immediately positive impression. Pairs of tall windows along the side of the dining area and family room brighten every corner of this zone, including the central kitchen, which has a modified galley layout.
A paneled upstand adds contemporary style at one end of the island bench, screening the double sink. Stainless-steel appliances, including a five-burner hotplate and canopy range hood, are also included.
A glazed sliding door at the back of the family room opens to a corner alfresco area under the main roof, with optional recessed ceiling.
Three minor bedrooms, the bathroom and laundry are in a separate wing to one side of the family room.
Two bedrooms at the back have two-door built-in robes and the third has a single robe.
“One of the the best features of this home is the amount of storage space, including a three-door linen cupboard in the back hall and a standard linen cupboard in the laundry,” Mr Scamaton said.
The Hacienda from Affordable Living Homes is open for viewing in Wellard.
